Bicentenary Pipeband Championships in partnership with Homecoming Scotland 2010

  • parade of dancers and pipersOn Friday, 26 February 2010 our annual fund raising concert and ceilidh takes place in the Victoria Halls and tickets are now available from Colina Helen Campbell on 0788 077 2422. Local artistes including the Margaret Rose Highland Dancers, Helensburgh & District Pipe Band, the Helensburgh Drummers and Hell for Leather will be providing the entertainent for this annual event which is proving ever more popular each year! There will also be tombola stalls, a raffle and other exciting entertainment for all the family - it is a family event and children are welcome so just come and enjoy yourself. Doors open 7pm for 7.30pm.
  • On Sunday, 20 June 2010 the Bicentenary Pipe Band Championships will take place at Hermitage Park with the highland dancing competitions in the Victoria Halls. Dancing starts at 10am and we have a tea/coffee, hot food, lunches, soft drinks and snacks throughout the day inside the Victoria Halls.
  • At 12 noon the Opening Parade of highland dancers, pipe bands and local organisations leaves the Pier Car Park and marches up Sinclair Street led by the chieftain, Sir Malcolm Colquhoun for the official opening of the Bicentenary Pipe Band Championships 2010 at 12.30pm in Hermitage Park, Helensburgh
  • At 1pm the pipe band competitions get under way at Hermitage Park starting with the Novice Juvenile bands.
    There will also be demonstrations, numerous trader stalls, a beer tent, BBQ, healthy food stall, children's entertainment, bouncy castle, face painting etc etc to keep everyone happy all afternoon
  • At 5pm the grand finale begins with the March Past of all the pipe bands followed by the presentation of trophies then the grand march down Sinclair Street to the pier car park of all the pipe band with their trohies - an amazing spectacle!
